This album could be considered a tribute of sorts to the legacy of Bob Ross, particularly his 'The Joy of Painting' TV-series. While he may not have been the most masterful painter in recorded history, in my opinion the series is one of the best ever to have been made. When I first watched an episode or two in the summer of 2016, the experience had an instant and irreversible effect not only on my worldview, but my approach to artistic expression, such as writing music.

I composed these songs within a relatively short time period, motivated mainly by the simple joy that creating music sparks in me. Apart from wanting to somehow capture some of the atmosphere and tone of each painting, and the progression of the respective episode, I didn't limit myself by setting any definite goals. I was able to literally convert thoughts into sound, experiencing what Bob described as "the joy of painting": the ability to come up with any idea or vision, and put it onto the canvas - the "canvas" in this case being my audio editing software. Few things in life can yield an equivalent degree of happiness.

Dans The Density Parameter, Mesarthim reprend tous les ingrédients qui font leur marque de fabrique : des pistes assez longues au rythme énergique (très palpable sur "Recombination" par exemple) et jouant sur des structures cycliques, un chant qui erre parmi les étoiles... Les ambiances sont prolifiques mais elles changent la donne : gracieuses, certes, mais surtout plus mélancoliques qu'autrefois.
